About 3:30 we clamor into the back of a pick-up truck and head for the Ayeyarwady, which is very low, it being "summer." Its an alternative to my original thoughts of a 10 hour cruise up to Mandalay from Bagan.
We stop at a couple of pagodas along the river bank. Sudang and I climb up the banks and hike to explore. Mary tries to stay out of the sun.
Hard to believe some of these figures are gold.
