Will and I wonder down the alley and stop in at Ricky's for a beer and talk and showing pictures - since I haven't been able to publish photos easily for the Myanmar leg. We make discoveries about mutual friends: David Sweet, Annie Kelly, April Burns and our kids having gone to Global Youth Exchange together.
After two hours of gabbing and sharing travel tales and photos, its time for Nan - whose been doing massage classes - to be heading home on the sky train and bus. Since she can now join us, Will suggests we join the throngs across the river at a barbecue restaurant. Hundreds of tables - each with a gas brazier line the banks of the river in a cavernous open air hall. Nan shows me where to collect little square styrofoam plates and load them up with shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, pork, bacon, octopus, squid from large restaurant pans. We make several trips. There are veggies too and even a bit of rice, but this is serious protein packing.

just to insure we won't starve while waiting for our food to cook, Nan picks up a fish, some skewed meats and prawns from the pre-cooked section, and sauces - can't forget the chilies.
Another round of beer and happy eating.

Around 10:30 it quiets down enough to carry on a conversation, and WIll even has room for ice cream. Nan also brings some jellies and watermelon. I manage to squeeze in a small slice. Then we waddle back across the bridge savoring the gentle breeze, having enjoyed each others company and new found friendships.
