Fast forward from the 19th to the 21st century. Top up SIM card and start calling friends and making plans, including connecting the cabby with SC Park for accurate directions.
Hung out with Mary swopping stories of our adventures.
Plans to meet Tim and Gob balloon as Jim and Tho are also in town, as is Jamlong from Ubon, who has his niece from HI in tow.
6pm becomes nearly 8 with traffic. Mary and I opted for a cab since I had my luggage fresh from Myanmar and darling Tim had agreed to hold one piece for me til I really depart.
One never knows who one will meet with T&G. Last month Alison was the surprise guest. Cheap Charlie's on soi 11 is quite the ronde vue spot sort of a Khao San road for the expat set (older farang guys with Asian wives). Lots of hotels restaurants and bars.
T&G head home, Jam rolls my suitcase and four of us head to the newest Mall, century 21? Food court. Jam's treat, we each get a prepaid card, choose from hundreds of delicious items (3 of us got sticky rice with mango) and chow down on spicy, yummy Thai favorites.
Oh yes and the Mall has the latest hot water bidet potties too and colorful restroom.

Mary is sent off well fetted, and I finally check into Rambuttri at 11:30, happy for friends well met, awesome familiar foods and a hot shower!
