The plane arrives at Yangon international around 12 and we are met by the Motherland two staff. There are five of us in the van, all first timers to this mysterious and for so long forbidden land. Its a way funky place, old wooden staircase and furniture in the lobby, wonderful staff, friendly and welcoming.
Chan Chan sits with us for an hour as we figure out how to maximize Sudangs sojourn with us. She arranges places to stay and air tickets for the next week. Flights are more than Lonely Planet quotes - $110 to Bagan, up from $87. At some point I'd like to experience an A/C bus or train, but this gets us into the heartland fast.
We wait til the cool of the evening to visit Schwedagon Paya. An amazing web of a place.

The Golden Central dome with hundreds of pounds of gold is just the central part of this huge plaza.
