First glimpse

We fly to Bagan early Feb19. This is no cheap-o airline, they serve us b'fast. Three bread-like things with spun sugar, one with a slice of cheese. The coffee is passable.

An even funkier, and much less clean hotel awaits us. The air is a bit cooler, but there is dust everywhere and a haze throughout the plateau. They call it summer, the time before the rains.
I bicycle out to Nyaung U's famous Shwezigon Paya, much smaller than in Yangon, but much the same layout. Notice the pigeons on the central Sikara.

i really did ride out here, and succumbed to buying a few post cards and cloth bag, to have an alternative to my wonderful, but hot hip pack - from this lady.

The cream colored markings on the little girl and her mother are from Tanaka made by rubbing a stick of the wood on a flat stone to make a thin cream. Its suppose to keep one cool and act as a sunscreen.
