Feb 20 AM. Mary and Sudang have met this 27 year old mother of twins who is aspiring to be a guide to Bagan. Reluctantly I agree to go along with their plan to visit temples with her and her friend who has a truck. Her English is ok for small talk,but after giving us what she has memorized from the guide book, thats as far as her knowledge goes. The king who built it, solid gold or gold leaf (paper gold). I ease drop as best I can with French and other guides, but we do see many temples and its a pleasant morning.
The walking Buddha is solid gold while the teaching one is "paper" gold, gold leaf pounded very thin and applied by the devotees.
The images have different faces. Those influenced by Indian art have longer noses and smile. The Burmese Buddhas don't smile.
