Mary only wants to do a half day on the lake because of the sun. I opt for joining with other guests from our hotel (whom we'd met in Bagan) to spend the whole day.
We walk to the canal leading to the lake and are accosted by numerous offers. We choose a fellow who suggests several places in addition to the ones we have in mind, and add two more passengers as well. Leo and Manuel, from Austria are the ring leaders.
Its chilly and breezy, and we give thanks for the blankets and umbrellas as well as life jackets.
We encounter many fishermen this early morning.
And stilt houses come into view as we near todays market village, Maing Thauk, villages rotate on a five day schedule.
