My Tho on the Mekong

One last day cruising the river with hoards of other travelers



But our boat has fresh looking bamboo mats and is quite handsome


Note the bright orange life vests, a tourist industry government requirement....sounds Iike OSHA has been around, but NOT for those workiing with electricity, as noted by this sandal clad lad


The guys with the poles carry the new wire across the street (after its been run over a few times by traffic)

But back to the river:


Paddling down a canal we saw water coconuts, that lumpy sphere on the end of a stalk


Fish traps


visited a coconut candy factory, rode in a horse cart


had a lovely al fresco lunch


met Claire from Cornwall who's traveling alone


and the local farm help taking a break from plowing rice paddy,


The Mekong produces three crops of rice per year. Plenty to export and feed its people who are industrious, hard working, energetic, with Can Do attitudes.


We bid farewell to the Delta and fly on to Hoi An via Danang for a little rain and experience of the "midlands"
