Abbots Birthday

Sorry no video I forgot you tube password
Xxoo

More celebrations with hundreds of monks from all over for the Abbots 65th birthday. More dancing
in hilltribe costumes and formal Thai costumes
And a local band whose t-shirts are emblazoned with the revered Abbot

Once again plenty of free food - crispy veggie rolls, khao man gai, and coconut ice cream. Jamlong even snagged a bit of birthday cake, but with hundreds of well wishers there wasn't enough for everyone. We all partook in adding blessed strings to the Abbots arms as a sign of respect, admiration and good luck. Officials had to hold up and support his arms they were so laden with blessings. Women can't touch a monk so we just laid the string down while men tied layer on layer to hold it all together.
Life looks prosperous and good in Isaan, but teachers are having to pay to get jobs, unemployment is very high and it is said that this government is even more corrupt than all the others have been.....

Time for a shower, as the mornings and evenings are too cool to stand in the open air with water pouring on me, even heated water. Time too for more diligence with mosquito repellent
