Living together in Peace

When citizens from the Ming Dynasty fleeing the manchurians came to this peaceful tradig town where Japanese, Chinese, Dutch and Portuguese where all living together in harmony doing their trading they named it Hoi=gathering An=Peace.

Our hotel 3 km out of town on the river, very peaceful indeed, especially in contrast to the cacaphony of backpack area of Saigon, with live band blaring til 2AM. I'm enjoying the tranquility soooo much.

Solar hot water, energy saving lighting, attention to maintenance (squeaky door and none functioning latch fixed immediately), street sweepers and garbage collection throughout the day, cell towers everywhere as well as free wifi throughout town. This is a country on the move, plenty of young people eager to get ahead, hard working, energetic, early risers....and dads walking around in the evenings with their precious little ones. They seem to have their priorities in the right place!!
Lush rice seedlings all around our hotel
