Evening walk

Mary opted to stay at phouc an riverside, so I took the shuttle into town. Passed a 21st birthday celebration complete with loud singer to entertain the assembled crowd behind gates. The girls got up to dance with each other in a sort of polkaesque line dance.
Down Le Loi street which has become my wellknown landmark, I returned to the pedestrian calm of the old town. One can only be run over here by a bicycle during certain hours. There was some sort of a bingo like game going onion a little gaZibo near the river. Instead Of calling out numbers, two singer took turns with chants terminating some time later with a young lady getting a prize.
I crossed one canal for a cheap
Dinner of greasy pancake and white rose rice dumplings-dishes we'd made in our cooking class today. The peanut sauce lacked umph, as did our own. My taste buds hunger for some of the fire of Thai food. It was a lot of food for $4.50,including a local beer($1). Wandering further along the river, in a non tourist part of town, I came upon an amusement park for little kids

With jumping castle and a small train, and the ever present parents with their darlings.

On the other side of the river were teen boys break dancing, couples cuddling, teen girls chatting and a general sense of wellbeing as I'd seen in Can tho.
I need to say here I felt perfectly safe wonder alone in the back streets
