More mountains (amended)

Sapa nestled in a high valley where there are three seasons daily: Spring in the morning with a little fog, summer at noon when the sun shines brightly, fall in the afternoon when it rains and winter at night when it is cold. So far its proved an accurate description.

The central square overlooked by the catholic church is set up daily with tribal handicraft sales, and intergenerations volleyball

Red Dzao ladies doing their intricate embroidery.

New Years ornaments cleverly displayed

Off the Main Street are stairways leading up and down to other parts of town

And plenty of floral displays like this bunch of banana flowers in front of a shop.

  1. Looks pretty hilly there! I guess you're getting your exercise, Kathryn!

  2. We were soooooo cold in Sapa in January - they were having an exceptional cold spell. Bought knock off north face parka, hat and mits. We stayed in bed 12 hours because the bed had an electric mattress pad and the room was very cold. Of course our treks out to see the ethnic groups were wonderful. The falls were very clouded in but did make for some nice pictures.
